My Dying Friend

Turn back, I think we're growing old
By the bedside, i don't think I can go on
No flags in range, dark grey
Conversations seem to change
My dying friend (I tried my best)
Time mends the broken halves
But we still seem to fall apart
Intoxicated, I thought I'd overcome this
Substance amplifies the deficit
I've brought the worst out in in me
The difference of what I should have been
These words are swords and they hurt you more
You've been through worse, I am so sorry
My dying friend (I tried my best)
Time mends the broken halves
But we still seem to fall apart
Time mends the broken halves
Will this feeling always last?
If not until the end
At least until my death
Dark grey, heartbeat does not change
Turn back I think we're growing cold
My dying friend (I tried my best)
Time mends the broken halves
But we still seem to fall apart
My dying friend, my dying love
Are we lost?

I Tried My Best

The raven is showing up at my door, he’s asking:
“How have you been lately? Are you okay?
This is not a dream, it’s actually me talking to you
About the things that make you”
This is me talking to you
About the thing that make you
Yes he’s right, I’ve been lying to myself this whole time
If I was to make a guess, it would be that time I failed
And never bothered to ask why.
Hopefully I’ll find my way.
“Let’s make a quick recap, shall we? So you started from there and went on to that. Somewhere along the way you got lost but then managed to get back on track. One may rightfully say, that the people you met and the things you did shaped you into who you are right now. While I get that you don’t feel particularly well talking about all of this, I am here to remind you that we’re all sick, but not terminally ill. And that healing involves a certain degree of pain. For poets always write about war and never of peace, for they can not truly appreciate it.”
(And I will find my way into the light of day)

We have decorated ourselves with the order of disorder.
We gave ourselves a pat on the shoulder for a job well done,
As everything fell apart.
